Eastbourne - Transport

A leisurely ferry ride from downtown Wellington across the harbour has you at the seaside village resort of Eastbourne, which basks in late afternoon sun, with both beach and bush at its backdoors – back in 1903 you would have travelled on the Cobar – a well loved ferry with a tendency to emit huge amounts of smoke and roll in rough weather... Those were the days!

Those who drive the scenic waterfront drive around the Bays to get to Eastbourne say it has the feel that you really are on holiday – even if it’s just for the weekend, or coming home from work!!  A far cry from the horse and cart trips families made in the 1890's to spend at their basic two roomed bach!
